Inserting a Customized Message into a Repaired File

When an email message is repaired because it was infected with a virus, the clean file is then sent on to the recipient. By default, IMail Anti-Virus inserts one of several message lines within the original message to inform the recipient if the actions taken. The default text that is inserted indicates that an attachment contained a virus and was either repaired or deleted because it could not be repaired.

If you would rather customize this message, you can do so. To customize any or all of these inserted messages you will need to change the entries in the configuration file (symcscan.cfg), located in the C:SYMCScan directory. Simply open this file and change any of the messages in the 2000 level, and Save the file before closing.

Using a customized file for Anti-Virus Messages

If you prefer to come up with your own message file, you can do so, but you still need to edit the configuration file to tell IMail Anti-Virus where to look for the new message file. Do this by opening the symcscan.cfg file and scrolling down to the StringFile entry. This entry specifies the file containing the anti-virus messages. Enter the new file and file path here and Save the configuration file.
