Creating the Peer List
How to get here
Before you create the peer list, you need to set up the peer servers. Once you have done that, you set up the peer list as follows:
- Click The Add IP Address page appears.
- In the box, enter the IP address (not a virtual address) of an IMail Server that you want to peer with the current mail server, then click .
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you have added all of the peer servers you want to include.
- Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 on each mail domain server that will be used as a peer server.
You do not need to add the local current server's IP address in the peer list. You need to enter only the other peers. Example.
The server does not have to be restarted after editing the peer list.
- On each peer mail server, make sure the primary domain (for example, ipswitch.net) is the only entry in the box on the Domain Properties page. This alias names the primary domain used to send and receive mail.
The domain An alias is another name assigned to a host name that can be used in place of the host name plus domain name. Aliases are often used to shorten long host names for convenience. alias cannot be a primary domain associated with a particular host. Do not enter IP addresses in the box.
On each of the three computers, make sure the box on the > tab is empty when using peer lists.
