Formatting convention	Description
Special Bold	User interface syntax such as dialog box titles, labels, and options. Names of icons and items.
Emphasis	Important works Figure captions Book titles
`Monospace`	Code samples and blocks.
CAPITALS	Keyboard keys. For example, SHIFT, CTRL, and ALT.
KEY+KEY	Key combinations that the user must press and hold down together. For example, CTRL+P, CTRL+S, or ALT+F4.
[ ]	Brackets enclose optional parameters.
{ }	Braces enclose required parameters.
\|	Bar separates options within brackets or braces.
( ...)	Indicates that options may repeat.
< >	Angle brackets enclose variable expressions such as parameters.
