Resiliency - Installation - Uninstall
If the MOVEit DMZ Resiliency installation process fails or an installed MOVEit DMZ Resiliency
system fails to run properly, you can return a MOVEit DMZ node to a point from which the Resiliency
installation may safely be attempted again by using the MOVEit DMZ Resiliency "Uninstall" program.
The "Uninstall" program disables and removes Resiliency services on a single node and technically
makes that node an independent MOVEit DMZ server again. However, this program will only partially
restore the MOVEit DMZ configuration, files, messages and folder structure to the MOVEit DMZ server
on which the uninstall was performed: additional steps (or the separately documented "migration"
procedure) should be taken if your intent is to put the independent server back in production.
The steps to "Uninstall" MOVEit DMZ Resiliency are:
- If the Resiliency installation has progressed to the point where services have been
started, it is best to shut down all MOVEit DMZ and MOVEit DMZ Resiliency services
through either the MOVEit Resiliency console program, or through the Windows Services
Console. The uninstall program will also check for and shut down any running services. Exit the
Resiliency console program if it is running on the desktop.
- Using the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs applet, find the MOVEit DMZ Resiliency
entry and press "Remove".
- Answer "Yes" to the prompt "Do you want to completely remove the selected application and
all of its features?"
- The uninstaller should display its status as it removes components of the Resiliency
installation.
- At the end you will be prompted to restart. Select "Yes" and press the "Finish" button
to restart your computer.
Here are the things that MOVEit Resiliency Uninstall will do:
- Remove the "MOVEit Database Resiliency" and "MOVEit Web Resiliency" services.
- Restore the MOVEit DMZ Stats, FTP, SSH, and Helper services to run under the LocalSystem
account.
- Restore the MOVEit DMZ Stats, FTP, SSH services, the Windows Web and Task Scheduler
services, and the MySQL service to run automatically on system startup.
- Restore the scheduled tasks to run under the LocalSystem user.
- Disable SLAVE mode in MySQL.
- Remove the node number, UNC, NAS User and Password, SNTP and other node IP address registry values.
- Remove the MOVEitDMZ2 MySQL Data source from the registry, and restore the MOVEitDMZ data source to 'localhost'.
- Change the MOVEit DMZ Web Directory, NonWeb Directory, ISAPI Directory,
and the Core, FTP and SSH Log directory registry settings back to the local system.
- Reset, in IIS, the MOVEit DMZ website directory, ISAPI directory, ISAPI Filter directory,
and Default Application Pool directories to their original locations.
- Delete all the files installed locally for resiliency services, EXCEPT for the MIDMZCfg
configuration program.
- Restore the DBFix.bat shortcut to use local file paths.
- At completion, the Uninstall will request a restart of you computer to restore
all services to pre-resiliency running state.
Here are some things that MOVEit Resiliency Uninstall will NOT do:
- Uninstall will not remove files copied from the local system to the NAS.
- It will not restore the MySQL database to its state prior to a database copy or resync.
- It will not copy logo image files from the NAS back to the local system.
- It will not copy any data files from the NAS that may have been uploaded while
in resilient mode.
- It will not remove the NAS user that was added to the local user store, or remove
privileges from that user.
- It will not undo MY.INI file changes made during the install.
Following the Resiliency uninstall process, and the subsequent reboot, your MOVEit DMZ system
is restored to a point where errors can be corrected and the Resiliency install can be run again.
Or, if you want to take the system and convert it back to a non-resilient system, you may at this
time manually perform some of the steps in the list above, specifically, copying files back
from the NAS, or else restore a saved configuration.
