Important! Always perform a full backup of your system before upgrade.
Both MOVEit Transfer 2017 Plus and 2017 Plus Service Pack 1 support direct upgrade installations from MOVEit 2017 or MOVEit DMZ 8.3 or later.
Both MOVEit Automation 2017 Plus and 2017 Plus Service Pack 1 support direct upgrade installations from MOVEit 2017 or MOVEit Central 9.0.
Upgrades generally require you to update the underlying database. This can be time consuming if you have a large log table or if the drive is heavily fragmented.
Upgrade performance has been improved in MOVEit Transfer 2017 SP1. Upgrading large Transfer environments that use Microsoft SQL Server, especially for environments with a large log table, might require additional database disk space during the upgrade. This could range as high as 2.5 times the current database size. The extra space is only needed during the upgrade process. You will be notified during the upgrade process if this extra space is required.
Currently signed-on accounts might need to sign on again after an upgrade because their sessions might need to be rebuilt. MOVEit Automation will automatically rebuild the session after the account signs on again.
The MOVEit Transfer 2017 Plus upgrade process does not prompt you to run SecAux (security wizard) after the upgrade. Recommended: Run SecAux manually after the upgrade process. This version of MOVEit has hardening options in SecAux. The default SecAux location is C:\Program Files (x86)\MOVEit\MOVEitTransfer\SecAuxNet.exe.
For Microsoft SQL Server databases, entering the ‘sa’ password is no longer required during the upgrade. Instead, the upgrade process uses the normal database user account. This user account must have db_owner permissions to the appropriate database. (The database user account that was originally created by the MOVEit installer has these permissions.)
If you upgrade MOVEit DMZ to MOVEit 2017 Plus, you must also update MOVEit Mobile clients to MOVEit Mobile Version 1.3 or later.
