If you use the MySQL database, remove any local non-MOVEit MySQL versions before you install MOVEit on the server. A "clean" server is recommended for installations. The MOVEit installation program installs the MySQL database.
Additionally, if you are installing MOVEit Transfer 2018:
Quick install/evaluation scenarios. MOVEit Transfer requires an unrestricted local administrator account for Windows Server. This account owns/runs the MOVEit services.
Production scenarios (follow the principal of least privilege). Install as local Windows administrator, but run as a non-admin Windows user with elevated privileges dedicated to MOVEit Transfer. This user will need 'runas' privileges.
The installation can activate Roles and Features for many of the prerequisites needed.
The program creates exceptions in the Windows Firewall to permit connections to MOVEit FTP and SSH.
Please note, MOVEit Transfer 2018 does not support remote access from IPv6 addresses (clients).
Recommended: To avoid any connection problems, disable IPv6 addresses on the MOVEit server. To disable IPv6, in Windows, open the Local Area Connection Properties for the network interface card, and make sure the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) property is not selected.
To support installation on Domain Controllers, a network service called File and Printer Sharing must be installed on the system.
