Upload Basics

The first steps for uploading and sharing your first file, package, or folder in MOVEit Transfer are:

1.

Sign in as Administrator *

—Or—

Use SysAdmin authority and act as Admin of a particular MOVEit Transfer org.

* (or as another user other than SysAdmin)

SysAdmins and Admin user permissions overlap in some ways, except:

  • SysAdmins create organizations and manage organizational settings.
  • Admins have full management capability of files (including upload).
  • SysAdmins are super users that can act as MOVEit Transfer Admins.

2.

Upload File(s)

Drag and drop file(s) to into the WebUI:

Or by using one of the following:

  • Built-in upload-download (drag-n-drop or browse and select) sometimes referred to as the JavaScript Wizard.
  • MOVEit Client. (Requires installation on the user's local machine.)
  • MOVEit Transfer RESTful API.
  • Any other clients or APIs as appropriate to MOVEit Transfer services (sftp, https, and more... ).

3.

Browse the different modes of use and sharing, create users, and leverage secure data.

  • Create users and groups that can upload and share.
  • Create users and groups that can download.
  • Create users that can perform admin-level tasks (fileadmins)
