Adding and editing a WMI Performance Monitor
The WMI performance monitor watches for specific values on Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) enabled devices. WMI is a Microsoft Windows standard for retrieving information from computer systems running Windows and is installed by default on most Windows operating systems.
: This feature is available with WhatsUp Gold Premium, ProView, TotalView, and TotalView Plus Editions only. To update your license, visit the WhatsUp Customer Portal.
: This monitor requires Windows credentials.
To add a new WMI performance monitor:
- From the WhatsUp Gold web interface, go to . The Monitor Library dialog appears.
- Click the tab. The Performance Monitor list appears.
- Click . The Select Performance Monitor Type dialog appears.
- Select , then click . The Add WMI Performance Monitor dialog appears.
- Enter the appropriate information:
- . Enter a unique name for the performance monitor. This name displays in the Performance Monitor Library.
- . (Optional) Enter additional information about the monitor. This description displays next to the monitor in the Performance Monitor Library.
- Click browse (). The Select Performance Counter dialog appears.
- Enter the or of the computer to which you are trying to connect or click browse () to select a device, then click .
- Select the used to connect to the device. You can also click browse() to access the Credentials Library to create a new credential.
- Click . The Add WMI Performance Monitor dialog appears.
- Use the navigation tree in the left panel to select the specific you want to monitor. You can view more information about the property/value at the bottom of the dialog.
- In the right pane, select the specific of the selected counter you want to monitor.
- Click to add the appropriate values to the and boxes on the Add WMI Performance Monitor dialog.
- Click to save changes.
- After the monitor has been added to the library, you can enable the monitor through . For more information, see Enabling performance monitors.
To edit an existing WMI performance monitor:
- From the WhatsUp Gold web interface, go to . The Monitor Library dialog appears.
- Click the tab. The Performance Monitor list appears.
- Select the performance monitor you would like to edit from the list of current monitors, then click . The Edit WMI Performance Monitor dialog appears.
- Enter the appropriate information:
- . Enter a unique name for the performance monitor. This name displays in the Performance Monitor Library.
- . (Optional) Enter additional information about the monitor. This description displays next to the monitor in the Performance Monitor Library.
- Click browse (). The Select Performance Counter dialog appears.
