Assigning an action to a device
When actions are assigned to devices, the action fires when an assigned device enters the state specified in the action. For example, if you assign an E-mail action to a device that is to fire when the device goes into a down state, an e-mail is sent to the email address specified in the E-mail action when the devices goes into a down state.
To assign an action to a device:
- In the Details or Map View, right-click a device, then click . The Device Properties dialog appears.
- Click . The Device Properties - Actions dialog appears; the option is selected by default.
- Click . The Action Builder appears; you can choose to add an action from the Action Library, or create a new action.
- Follow the directions in the Action Builder wizard.
- At the end of the wizard, click to add the action to the monitor.
- On the Device Properties dialog, click to save changes.
