Flow Ports

In order to categorize the traffic data on your network, Flow Monitor interprets traffic based on the port over which the data is sent and the protocol used to send the data. For example, Flow Monitor understands all TCP and UDP packets transmitted or received over port 21 as ftp traffic.

This dialog lists all of the types of traffic patterns that Flow Monitor understands by default. You can also use this dialog to configure custom patterns to match routine traffic on your network that does not match standard ports and protocols (from proprietary applications, for example).

Note: If a port is not included in this list, data about traffic over that port is collected but not classified by application.

Note: The dialog groups ports into 1,000 port ranges. To see a port in a different range than the current one, select a new range in Port Range.
