Select Action and State

Select the action from the Action Library you want to execute when the selected state change occurs. The list of actions is populated by entries in the Actions Library. Click the ... button to access this library and create new actions, or to edit the actions available in the Actions Library.

If the Execute the action on the following state change selected is an Up or Up at least 5 min, then you must make a selection in the Only if the following state was reached list. If the device reaches the selected state at any time, then reaches the Up state, the Up action is fired. This means that the state can change again before it reaches Up, or Up at least 5 min, and since it reached the selected state (at least), it still fires on the Up or Up at least 5 min state.

• Select 0 minutes - (Maintenance) state if you want to fire an action when a device state changes to Up after it is in Maintenance mode.
• Click Blackout Schedule to schedule a blackout time for the action.
• Select Repeat action every x minutes | hours | days | weeks | months to repeat the selected actions when certain device state conditions occur.

Stopping repeating actions

After the repeating interval actions start, there are two conditions that automatically stop the repeating actions:

• When a device goes from a Down state back to an Up state.
• When a device is put into Maintenance mode.

You may also stop repeating actions manually:

• From the WhatsUp Gold Admin Console: click Tools > Running Actions... > then select the action / repeating action you want to stop, click Action > Cancel Selected Action.
