Adding and Editing an Exchange 2003 Monitor
The Exchange active monitor lets you monitor the Microsoft® Exchange™ 2003 Server application. The Exchange 2003 Monitor provides real-time information about the state and health of Microsoft 2003 Exchange servers on your network. The Exchange 2003 Monitor supports monitoring of Microsoft Exchange Server version 2003 only, which can be on any machine in your network. To create custom parameters to monitor, the Exchange Server host must be WMI-enabled.

To add a new Exchange 2003 active monitor:
- From the WhatsUp Gold web interface, go to . The Monitor Library dialog appears.
- Click the tab. The Active Monitor list appears.
- Click . The Select Active Monitor Type dialog appears.
- Select , then click . The New Exchange 2003 Server Monitor dialog appears.
- Enter or select the appropriate information:
- . Enter a unique name for the active monitor. This name displays in the Active Monitor Library.
- . Enter additional information about the monitor. This description displays next to the monitor in the Active Monitor Library.
- . Select the thresholds you want to monitor. To configure the setting for a threshold, highlight the parameter, and click .
- . Select the services you want to monitor. By default, all services are selected.
- . Select this option to have the monitor appear in the Active Monitor list on the Device Properties dialog. WhatsUp Gold adds the monitor type to the device during a rescan, which is launched using the button on the Device Properties dialog, if the protocol or service is active on the device.
- Click to save changes.
- After configuring an active monitor in the Active Monitor Library, add the monitor to devices.
To edit an existing Exchange 2003 active monitor:
- From the WhatsUp Gold web interface, go to . The Monitor Library dialog appears.
- Click the tab. The Active Monitor list appears.
- Select the monitor you would like to edit, then click . The Edit Exchange 2003 Monitor dialog appears.
- Enter or select the appropriate information:
- . Enter a unique name for the active monitor. This name displays in the Active Monitor Library.
- . Enter additional information about the monitor. This description displays next to the monitor in the Active Monitor Library.
- . Select the thresholds you want to monitor. To configure the setting for a threshold, highlight the parameter, and click .
- . Select the services you want to monitor. By default, all services are selected.
- . Select this option to have the monitor appear in the Active Monitor list on the Device Properties dialog. WhatsUp Gold adds the monitor type to the device during a rescan, which is launched using the button on the Device Properties dialog, if the protocol or service is active on the device.
