Adding and editing a Windows Performance Counter Monitor
The Windows Performance Counter Monitor enables data collection from performance counters exposed by various Windows applications. This monitor can only monitor Windows applications and requires Windows credentials on the device for which you want to monitor Windows applications. Additionally, devices for which you want to monitor Windows applications must have the Remote Procedure Call and Remote Registry services enabled and running.

To add a new WMI Formatted Counter performance monitor:
- From the WhatsUp Gold web interface, go to . The Monitor Library dialog appears.
- Click the tab. The Performance Monitor list appears.
- Click . The Select Performance Monitor Type dialog appears.
- Select , then click . The Add Windows Performance Counter Monitor dialog appears.
- Enter or select the appropriate information:
- . Enter a unique name for the monitor. This name displays in the Performance Monitor Library.
- . Enter additional information for the monitor. This description displays next to the monitor name in the Performance Monitor Library.
- . Enter the category to which the Windows performance counter you want to monitor belongs, such as Processor. Click browse () to select the Windows Performance Counter you would like to use in the monitor.
- . Enter the specific performance counter in the category specified above for which you want to monitor, such as % Processor Time.
- . (Optional) If applicable, enter the specific instance of the performance counter specified above for which you want to monitor, such as _Total. Not all counters have specific instances, so this box may be left blank.
- After the monitor is added to the library, you can enable the monitor through . For more information, see Enabling performance monitors.
To edit an existing WMI Formatted Counter performance monitor:
- From the WhatsUp Gold web interface, go to . The Monitor Library dialog appears.
- Click the tab. The Performance Monitor list appears.
- Select the performance monitor you would like to edit from the list of current monitors, then click . The Edit Windows Performance Counter Monitor dialog appears.
- Enter or select the appropriate information:
- . Enter a unique name for the monitor. This name displays in the Performance Monitor Library.
- . Enter additional information for the monitor. This description displays next to the monitor name in the Performance Monitor Library.
- . Enter the category to which the Windows performance counter you want to monitor belongs, such as Processor.
- . Enter the specific performance counter in the category specified above for which you want to monitor, such as % Processor Time.
- . Enter the specific instance of the performance counter specified above for which you want to monitor, such as _Total.
- Click to save changes.
