Add/Edit New VMware Credential Type
How to get here
- Go to the Credentials Library.
- From the web interface, click . The GO menu appears.
- If the WhatsUp section is not visible, click . The WhatsUp section of the GO menu appears.
- Select . The Credentials Library dialog appears.
- Click . The Select Credential Type dialog appears.
- Select , then click . The Add New VmWare Credential Type dialog appears.
Use this dialog to create a VMware credential type for use with the credentials system. The credentials system stores VMware authentication data for VMware hosts and vCenter servers in your WhatsUp Gold database to be used whenever authentication is needed to connect to and gather data from the vCenter server or VMware host. For more information, see Using Credentials.
Enter or select the appropriate information in the following fields.
- . Enter a name for the credential type. This name appears in the Credentials Library.
- . Enter a short description for this credential. The description appears with the name in the Credentials Library to help you differentiate it from other credential types.
- . Enter a username. This username is used to authenticate to the device.
- . Enter a password. This password is used with the above username to authenticate to the device
- . Re-enter the authentication password a second time to confirm that you entered the password correctly.
Click to save changes.
