Creating device-specific SSH performance monitors
To create a device-specific SSH performance monitor:
- In Device or Map View, right-click a device, then select . The Device Properties dialog appears.
- Click . The Device Properties - Performance Monitors dialog appears.
- Under , click . The Select Performance Monitor Type dialog appears.
- Select , then click . The New SSH Performance Monitor dialog appears.
- Enter the and short for the monitor, as it will appear in the Performance Monitor Library.
- Enter the , or the command that is to be executed on the remote device. This command can be anything that the device can interpret and run; for example, a basic Unix command or Perl script.
: The command or script must return a single numeric value.
: If you create a script to run on the remote device, the script must be developed, tested and/or debugged on the remote machine. WhatsUp Gold does not support manipulation of the remote script.
- Select the appropriate that WhatsUp Gold will use to connect to the remote device. If you select Use the device SSH credential, WhatsUp Gold uses the SSH credential assigned to the device to which the monitor is assigned. If the appropriate SSH credential is not listed, or the device has no SSH credentials assigned, browse () to the WhatsUp Gold Credentials Library to configure a set of credentials.
- Click to return to the monitor properties dialog.
- Verify the configuration of the monitor, then click to add the monitor to the device's Properties.
