Use this dialog to select the Active Monitors for the device role you are defining.
Note: It is possible that not all devices that are discovered will support the active monitors selected in this tab. The active monitors will only be configured for devices that support the monitors.
Active monitors are the WhatsUp Gold feature responsible for watching over device services, for example Web or email servers. Active monitors regularly query or poll the device services for which they are configured and wait for responses. If a query is returned with an expected response, the queried service is considered "up." If a response is not received, or if the response is not expected, the queried service is considered "down" and a state change is issued on the device. For more information, see Using Active Monitors.
Standard active monitors. Select the following WhatsUp Gold active monitors you want to include in the discovery role template you are defining:
Critical. After you select an active monitor, you can select the Critical option if you want the monitor to be evaluated as a critical monitor. Critical active monitors allow you to define a specific polling order for a device's active monitors. For more information, see About critical active monitors.
Custom active monitors. Select the WhatsUp Gold custom active monitors you want to include in the discovery role template you are defining. The custom active monitors are populated in this section based on the custom active monitors that are available in the Active Monitor Library.
