When you begin monitoring a new device, its initial configuration is determined by the primary role it is assigned by WhatsUp Gold during discovery. For additional details, see About Device Roles. Use the Device Role Settings dialog to configure and modify custom device roles for use within your network environment.
To create a new device role, click Add or to modify the default configuration behavior of a specific device role, select that role from the list at left, then click Configure under any section at right. A second interface appears presenting tabs for representing each customizable element of the selected device role. Configure settings as needed, then click OK. Please note, items found on the General tab may not be changed for default device roles.
