Continue installation with Failover features
To continue WhatsUp Gold installation with Failover features using a new database:
- If prompted, select or . When selecting , you'll also need to enable the checkbox confirming a Secondary Site instance of WhatsUp Gold is already installed, then click . Note that the presentation of this option is dependent upon the license key entered.
: When installing WhatsUp Gold in a Failover configuration, you MUST install the Secondary site prior to installing the Primary site.
: If you selected at the beginning of the workflow, you'll only need to confirm the SQL Server Administrator account and SQL Server Login before completing installation.
: If you are installing the , you'll be prompted to back up the databases and specify the location for the backup. The procedure steps below applicable to configuring SQL Server do not apply.
- Select , then click .
- Select the destination folders for the SQL Server Express installation, then click .
- Enter and confirm a password for the SQL Server Administrator account to use to access the database instance, then click .
- Enter names for the WhatsUp, iDrone Service, and NetFlow databases being created, then click .
- Enter and confirm a password for the new SQL Server Login WhatsUp Gold will use to access the databases, then click .
- Select the destination folder for the WhatsUp Gold installation, then click .
- Enter the TCP port number for WhatsUp Gold to use for communication with the IIS website, then click . The default and recommended port number is 80.
- Enter a password for the new Windows account created for dedicated WhatsUp Gold use, then click .
: If your are also installing WhatsUp Gold with Distributed features, please continue the workflow with the procedures steps outlined in Continuing WhatsUp Gold installation with Distributed (Central) or (Remote) features.
- Select any additional language packs you would like to install with WhatsUp Gold, then click .
- Click . The WhatsUp Gold install program begins the installation. When the installation program completes, the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog appears.
- Click . The setup program closes.
: To successfully complete installation of WhatsUp Gold using Failover features, proceed with Finalizing WhatsUp Gold installation using Failover features.
To continue WhatsUp Gold installation with Failover features using an existing database:
- If prompted, or . When selecting , also enable the checkbox confirming a Secondary Site instance of WhatsUp Gold is already installed, then click . Note that the presentation of this option is dependent upon the license key entered. It will not be displayed if your specific key has failover features enabled or disabled by default.
: When installing WhatsUp Gold in a Failover configuration, you MUST install the Secondary site prior to installing the Primary site.

If prompted to do so, please indicate you'd like to back up any existing databases from previous installations as well as the location for the database backup files using the dialogs provided.
