Create Pager Notification
How to get here
- From the top menu, select . The Notifications page opens.
: You must be logged in as a system administrator to access this page.
- Click . The Create Pager Notification page opens.
This page is used to create a pager notification.
- . Enter a name for this notification. This name is for your reference only and will never be displayed to the notification recipient.
- . Enter or modify the description. This description is for your reference only.
- . Enter the terminal number provided by your paging company.
- . Enter the password provided by your paging company for alphanumeric paging.
- . Enter the Pager ID or PIN provided by your paging company. This is the number that identifies the pager to which the notification is sent.
- . The correct setting for the protocol depends on your paging company. If you are unsure which protocol to select, contact your paging company.
- (Telocator Alphanumeric Protocol). The most common protocol for paging companies in the United States.
- . The most common protocol for paging companies in Japan.
- . Used most commonly by some paging companies in the United States.
- . The most common protocol for paging companies in Europe.
- . Enter the message that should be sent with this notification. You can use notification variables in this field.
Pager Modem Settings
These settings control the behavior of the modem when this notification is sent.
- . Enter an initialization string for the modem. This string should contain the modem commands for "Command Echo Off" (EO), "Result Codes On" (QO), "Verbal Results" (V1), "Result Codes Displayed" (X4), and "Local Echo OFF" (F1). The recommended string to use is: ATEO QO V1 X4 F1.
- . Select the COM port to which your modem is connected.
- . Select the speed (measured in bits per second) at which the serial port will communicate with the modem. Consult the documentation for your modem if you are unsure of the appropriate selection.
- . Select the type of data bit transmission to be used for communications with the selected serial port. Select from 6, 7, or 8.
- . Select the form of parity checking you want the modem to use. Parity checking can be specified as even (a successful transmission will form an even number), odd or none. No parity means the modems will not transmit or check a parity bit and the server will assume that there are other forms of error checking being used.
- . Select whether to use 1 or 2 bits to signal the end of a unit of transmission.
