Web Transfer Settings
WS_FTP Server Web Transfer Module runs as a web application under Internet Information Services (IIS). This web application needs access to the file system on your FTP host or hosts.
Use these settings to specify a Windows user account that the Web Transfer Module uses to access folders on the WS_FTP Server host. This includes local system folders and network folders specified with a UNC name.
- . Enter the name of the domain, or machine name, on which the user exists.
- . Enter the user name to use when requesting access to folders on the host. You can change the default name.
- . Enter the password to use when requesting access to folders on the host.
Notes about how this account works with other impersonation settings on the WS_FTP Server host
This Web Transfer account applies to all WS_FTP Server hosts, but it is applied differently depending on the host settings and the user database configured for that host.
- If the host uses a Microsoft Windows or a Microsoft Active Directory user database, configured to use Windows file permissions, the user account permissions take precedence, and this Web Transfer account is ignored.
- If the host has a host-level impersonation account, which is required if the Top folder uses a UNC path, then the host-level impersonation account takes precedence, and this Web Transfer account is ignored.
- If the host uses the WS_FTP Server or ODBC user database, and host-level impersonation is not specified, this Web Transfer account is used.
You can check the settings for user database, top directory, and impersonation in the Host Details page for each WS_FTP Server host.
You can edit the Web Transfer Module Web.config file to change settings such as the maximum file size for transfers, and maximum number of files that can be transferred. See Web.config settings.
