Creating quota limit rules
Quota limit rules are configured per host. To have the same quota limit rule on multiple hosts, you must configure it for each host.
To create a new Quota Limit Rule:
- From the top menu, select . The Hosts page opens.
- Select a host from the list by clicking on the hyperlinked host name. The Host Details page opens.
- Select from the left navigation menu. The Quota Limit Rules page opens.
- Click . The Create Quota Limit Rule page opens.
- Enter the appropriate values for each field.
- . Enter a name for this rule. This name is for your reference only and can include up to 256 characters.
- Do not allow uploads if:
- . When the user attempts an action that would cause the total number of files in the user's home folder (and its subfolders) to exceed the specified number, the action is not permitted. If you do not want to limit the number of files in the user's home folder, enter 0.
- . When the user attempts an action that would cause the total size of the files and folders in the user's home folder to exceed the specified amount, the action is not permitted. If you do not want to limit the size of the user's home folder, enter 0.
If your users have the WS_FTP Professional client, the FTP and SSH servers can send the user's remaining disk space to the FTP client, which will display the data at the bottom of the remote file list. When you create a Quota Limit Rule, this functionality is enabled.
- . This list contains all of the users and groups configured on the host. Select the checkboxes next to the users and groups to whom you want this rule to apply.
- . This section is used to select a notification (or notifications) and to specify the criteria that trigger the notifications for this rule. :
- . When the total number of files in the user's home folder (and its subfolders) grows larger than the specified number, any notifications attached to this rule are triggered. If you do not want to limit the number of files in the user's home folder, enter 0.
- . When the user's home folder grows larger than the specified maximum amount of disk space, any notifications attached to this rule are triggered. If you do not want to limit the size of the user's home folder, enter 0.
- . This list contains all of the notifications configured on the current host. Select the checkboxes beside the notifications you want this rule to apply to. To configure a new notification and associate it with this rule, click .
- . Select the option to enable a selected program to run when a rule is triggered.
- . Enter the full path and file name of the program you want to run on the server when this rule is triggered. Click to browse for the program file name.
- . Enter the arguments to pass to the executable, if necessary.
- Click to save the new Quota Limit Rule.
