Creating an Active Script Action
To create an Active Script Action:
- Go to the Action Library:
- From the web interface, click . The GO menu appears.
- If the WhatsUp section is not visible, click . The WhatsUp section of the GO menu appears.
- Select . The Action Library appears.
- or -
- From the main menu bar of the console, select . The Action Library appears.
- In the Action Library, do one of the following:
- Set the appropriate options.
- . The name of the action as it appears in the Action Library.
- . The description of the action as it appears in the Action Library.
- . The amount of time (in seconds) WhatsUp Gold should wait for the action script to run.
: Though the maximum timeout is 60 seconds, you are highly discouraged from using a timeout longer than the default of 10 seconds. You are encouraged to use the shortest timeout possible.
- . Select the scripting language that you want to use to write this active script (either VBScript or JScript).
- . Write or insert your action code here.
: We do not recommend using the % variable in a script text because they may resolve in text that could contain special characters that may break your script, such as ' ' (quotes), " " (double-quotes), and % (percent), new line characters, etc.
- Click to save this action. The action now appears in the Action Library.
- Assign the action to a device or a monitor. For more information, see Assigning an action to a device or Assigning an action to a monitor.
