Monitor/Service Properties for Exchange Monitor
How to get here
- From the web interface, select . The GO menu appears.
- If the WhatsUp section is not visible, click . The WhatsUp section of the GO menu appears.
- Select .
- Click , select , then click .
Use the settings on this dialog to configure an instance of the Exchange Monitor. Remember that setting up a monitor is a two-step process.
: WhatsUp Gold does not support Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
To configure an instance of the Exchange Monitor:
- In this dialog, select the Exchange parameter or service that you want to monitor and configure any settings particular to the parameter.
- Then, assign the monitor to a device (using > ).
Thresholds to monitor
This section contains the Exchange parameters that you can select for monitoring.
To select a parameter for monitoring:
- Click a checkbox to select the parameter you want to monitor. Any parameter that is checked will be monitored.
To configure a threshold for a parameter:
- Click a checkbox to select the parameter you want to configure, then click .
- Default threshold settings have been provided for each parameter, but can be changed according to your needs. It is best to establish a baseline value for the parameter and then use it to configure a threshold.
- You can configure a threshold for a parameter whether or not the parameter is selected for monitoring.
- You can also configure custom parameters by selecting the parameter, then click . The Custom WMI Parameters dialog box appears.
Services to monitor
This section contains the Exchange services that can be monitored. Select the services you want to monitor. There is no configuration involved because Exchange reports only whether the service is Up or Down.
<Notes> You can add multiple parameters or processes to an Exchange Monitor. In this case, the monitor will be Down if any of the selected parameters exceeds a threshold or any of the processes fails.
To assign the monitor to a device, go to > .
You can use the %ActiveMonitor.Payload
notification variable to report the status of the "aspects" of an Exchange Monitor.
