Spool Monitor

The Spool Monitor settings when enabled is designed to alert an IMail Administrator when the spool file messages are backing up and a possible problem needs to be addressed. Currently with this feature disabled issues of the message spool file backing up are not addressed until someone notices that messages are not delivering in a timely manner, or the drive runs out of space and crashes. The new Spool Monitor settings allow an alert to be delivered when the spool file count reaches a certain limit and/or the count of delivery attempts reaches a certain limit.

Important: Be sure to restart the Maintenance Service after Spool Monitor settings have been updated.

Spool Monitor Settings

Enable. Disabled by default.
- Check the spool every "X" minutes. (By default set to every 15 minutes) This setting will check the settings below and if either setting is true an alert message will be sent.
- Send alert when the number of queued messages exceeds X. (By default set to 10,000) This setting will send a local alert message when the number of spool files goes above this count.
  Warning: An alert message will be sent out for each checked interval, until the queued message count goes under the above limit.
- Send alert when the number of queued messages exceeds "X" with "Y" delivery attempts. (By default set to 1000 messages with 10 delivery attempts) This setting will send a local alert message when there are a queued set of messages (message limit "X") that have reached the delivery attempt limit ("Y").
- Alert Addresses. (Enter one per line) Email addresses entered here must be valid users that exist on one of the IMail Server domains to allow a quick local delivery.
