Adding Inbound Delivery Rule Conditions for IMail Domains
How to get here
- From the home page, click the > tab.
- In the list, select a domain. The page appears.
- In the navigation pane, click . The page appears.
- Click . The page appears.
Use the Rule Settings page to add new inbound rule conditions, edit inbound rule conditions, delete conditions, move rule condition evaluation priority up or down, add rule conditions, and set actions to take on a message that matches the rule condition criteria.
Rule Settings
- or. The current domain name used to address mail to the users on the mail domain is displayed. For example, company.com is the domain name in the address john.public@company.com.
- Name. Enter the name for the rule.
Conditions
- Select to use an external file that includes rule conditions. For more information, see Storing Search String in an External Text File.
- Select to use rule conditions set from the options on the Rule Settings page.
- Displays the message field that is filtered: , , , , , or
- Displays when the delivery rule filter messages contain the search text. Displays when the delivery rule filter message does not contain the search text.
- Displays the search text that is used in the rule condition.
- Displays or to indicate whether the search text must match the text case used in the Search Text condition.
- Click to create a new rule condition.
- Select a condition that you want to delete from the Conditions list, then click to delete the condition.
- . Select a condition and click to move the condition processing order to a higher priority for email filtering. Conditions are processed in the order in which they appear in the Conditions list.
- Select a condition and click to move the condition processing order to a lower priority for email filtering. Conditions are processed in the order in which they appear in the Conditions list.
To add more than one condition to a rule, create the first condition, then click:
Action
- Select an action to take if a rule traps a message that meets the rule criteria:
- Moves the message to the user's mailbox specified in the box. If the mailbox does not exist, it is created. The default mailbox is "bulk". A POP3 user will see this mailbox only if he logs on to this mailbox using the format
userid- mailbox
. By default, if nothing is entered into the text box, messages meeting the rule criteria will be sent to the user's Main mailbox. - Forwards the message to an email address. Enter an email address to forward mail to in the box. You must enter the full email address, such as Mary@domain1.com.
- Immediately deletes the message.
- Delivers the message to its intended recipient as well as copies it to an additional address that you specify in the box.
- Sends the message back to the sender without being processed.
- forward the message to which matches the rule condition criteria. If you enter a mailbox that does not exist, one is created. A POP3 user will see this mailbox only if he logs on to this mailbox using the format userid-mailbox. By default, if nothing is entered in the text box, messages meeting the rule criteria are sent to the user's Main mailbox.
- Click to save changes.
- Click to exit without saving changes.
After you create a rule condition, the new Rule is placed in the Inbound Rules list. Rules are identified in the list by their sequence in the list, for example (Rule 1, Rule 2; etc.).
To Edit a Rule Condition:
- From the Conditions list, select a rule condition that you want to edit. The Condition page appears.
- Make the desired changes to the condition options, then click .
