The Ipswitch Analytics Exchange Mailbox is configured to retain deleted items for '0' days (via the RetainDeletedItemsFor Mailbox property).
The RecoverableItemsQuota size should be a function of the size of the daily Incident Reports processed and the frequency in which your Exchange Mailbox Server runs the Microsoft Exchange 2013 Mailbox Assistant. The default schedule is set to one day. Before you configure Ipswitch Analytics Exchange Support, verify your Exchange Mailbox Server Mailbox Assistant schedule:
4,200 Incident Reports per day + 10,000 Incident Reports per day = 14,200 Incident Reports per day
14,200 Incident Reports per day x 100 KB average message-with-attachment size = ~1.4 GB
Important: The behavior of the Microsoft Exchange 2013 Mailbox Assistant does not guarantee that a specific Exchange Mailbox will be processed at a specific interval. A schedule configured for one day means that the Mailbox Assistant will process the Mailbox on the Exchange Mailbox Server at least one time within a 24 hour period. However, this means that an Exchange Mailbox might go unprocessed by the Mailbox Assistant for up to 48 hours.
For example, the Microsoft Exchange 2013 Mailbox Assistant might process the Ipswitch Analytics Exchange Mailbox early Monday morning, and then process it again late Tuesday night. Although the Mailbox Assistant delivered on the 'at least once within a 24 hour period' configuration, the amount of time between the different runs is more than 24 hours.
This gives us a Retained Deleted Items multiplier that must be factor into the quota planning for RecoverableItemsQuota:
(Microsoft Exchange 2013 Mailbox Assistant schedule in days x 2)
Applying the multiplier produces:
~1.4 GB x (1 day schedule x 2) = ~3 GB
This represents the 'best case' scenario because it does not factor in the capacity for periods of Incident Report spikes or Microsoft Exchange 2013 Mailbox Assistant self-throttling based on available Exchange system resources.
Recommended: Add additional capacity for at least one additional Microsoft Exchange 2013 Mailbox Assistant work-cycle (factoring in the Retained Deleted Items multiplier, also).
~1.4 GB x (1 day schedule x 2) x (1 day schedule x 2) =
~6 GB
Set the RecoverableItemsQuota to at least ~6 GB
Set the RecoverableItemsWarningQuota relative to RecoverableItemsQuota. The RecoverableItemsWarningQuota determines at what Recoverable Items Folder size a warning event is entered in Event Viewer. Set this parameter appropriately so that corrective action can be taken before mailbox item deletions are blocked.
RecoverableItemsWarningQuota = RecoverableItemsQuota x .75
RecoverableItemsWarningQuota could be set to ~4.5 GB
