Disable Content Indexing

Content Indexing

By default, when a new Exchange Mailbox Database is created, Exchange enables mailbox indexing for all Mailboxes in the Mailbox Database.  This makes full-text searching of email content possible, but adds processing overhead and increases the storage requirements for the mailbox, because indexes take space.

The Ipswitch Analytics Mailbox does not need full-text searching of email content. Because the Ipswitch Analytics Mailbox uses the IpswitchAnalyticsDatabase, this Mailbox Database-level setting can be disabled without affecting your Exchange users. Disabling the setting saves processing time and a significant amount of storage space.

The space required for files related to the content indexing process can be estimated as 20% of the database size. Reference: Microsoft TechNet.

Note: You cannot use the Exchange Admin Center (EAC) to disable or enable Exchange Search for a Mailbox Database.
