Fixed Issues

The following issues were fixed in Progress MOVEit Analytics 3.1.0.

Fixed Issue

35700

Security

This issue was mitigated by additional hardening applied to the Analytics Elasticsearch instance. Only MOVEit Analytics has access to Elasticsearch. The MOVEit security team has validated that the attack is no longer possible after upgrade to Progress MOVEit Analytics 3.1.0.

35701

Security

Upon review by the MOVEit security team this vulnerability was deemed out of scope because Progress MOVEit Analytics does not use the X-Pack feature and remote access to the Elasticsearch instance is blocked.

Upgrading

Upgrading to the latest version of Progress MOVEit Analytics ensures that you have access to the latest features, fixes, security updates, and usability improvements.

Upgrade the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server first, then upgrade the Progress MOVEit Analytics Agent on each MOVEit database machine in your Progress MOVEit Analytics environment.

If you have a support subscription, upgrades are free.

Get the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server and Agent Installers

  1. Log in to the Progress Customer and Community portal and select Product Downloads.
  2. Download the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server and Agent product packages.
  3. Before you run the upgrade installer.
    • Review Upgrade Considerations. They identify useful tips and guidelines for existing Progress MOVEit Analytics users.

Upgrade the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server

  1. Run the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server installer package. The upgrade process can take several minutes, depending on the size of your database.

When you installed the previous version of Ipswitch Analytics, you provided Tomcat Logon Account information. The default was to use the local system account. If during that installation you specified a different account, the upgrade program prompts you for the username, password, and group of that account.

  2. When the upgrade is complete, log on to the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server and click Browse to License to upload your license file.

Ipswitch Analytics 3.0 users do not need a new license for Progress MOVEit Analytics 3.1.0, the 3.0 license is valid.

Upgrade the Progress MOVEit Analytics Agent

Upgrade the Progress MOVEit Analytics Agent on each MOVEit database machine in your Progress MOVEit Analytics environment

  1. Run the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server installer package. The upgrade process can take several minutes.

Upgrade the Progress MOVEit Analytics Agent in Legacy Failover Environments

If you are using MOVEit Failover (Failover Manager), these instructions do not apply. For more information, see Failover 9.0 Documentation.

  1. Shut down the Progress MOVEit Analytics Agent service on the server machines that host the primary and secondary instances of MOVEit Automation.
  2. Upgrade the Progress MOVEit Analytics Agent on the primary instance of MOVEit Automation.
  3. Upgrade the Progress MOVEit Analytics Agent on the secondary instance of MOVEit Automation.

Upgrade Paths

Progress MOVEit Analytics 3.1.0 supports "direct upgrade" (upgrade by way of running the Progress MOVEit Analytics installer) for existing Ipswitch Analytics 2017 (2.0) and newer.

Use the Upgrade Path table below to determine the most efficient upgrade path from your current version to Progress MOVEit Analytics 3.1.0.

The Progress MOVEit Analytics installer checks your version number and prevents upgrades from versions earlier than 2017 (2.0).

Your version

Upgrade path

Ipswitch Analytics 2017 (2.0) or later

  1. Download Progress MOVEit Analytics 3.1.0 from the Progress Community.
  2. Your upgrade activation code is embedded in the installer file, and is automatically used during installation.

Ipswitch Analytics 1.1 or earlier

  1. Upgrade to a supported version, such as 2017 (2.0) using the 2017 installer in upgrade mode.
  2. Use the latest installer to upgrade to Progress MOVEit Analytics 3.1.0.

If your product version is close to or past its sunset or retirement milestones, upgrade to the latest version of Progress MOVEit Analytics. For more information, see the Product Lifecycle page.

System Requirements

Review the current System Requirements.

Database and files backup

Back up your existing database. For instructions, see the PostgreSQL documentation.

Back up the following files:

  • cert files. These files are named server*.pem and are located in the install directory in apache/tomcat7/certs/
  • .init file. This file is located in the install directory in apache/tomcat7/conf/.init

System Requirements

Progress MOVEit Analytics requires certain software and hardware to ensure correct operation.

Analytics Server Requirements

The Progress MOVEit Analytics Server must be installed on a dedicated physical or virtual machine. Do not install the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server on a machine that hosts a MOVEit server or a MOVEit database.

Disk Subsystem Performance

Minimum of 200 average IOPS

1 The amount of RAM required depends on the number of MOVEit servers and their estimated number of monthly transactions. The Progress MOVEit Analytics Server installer tunes the Progress MOVEit Analytics PostgreSQL database automatically based on the RAM detected during installation.

2 The amount of hard drive space required depends on the number of MOVEit servers and their estimated number of monthly transactions. Higher numbers of transactions and/or tasks might require a larger hard drive. A transaction includes uploads, downloads, and Central steps. If you are not sure of your MOVEit activity level, see Estimate Monthly Transactions (in the Administrator Guide). Recommended: 1 or 2 months after you install the Progress MOVEit Analytics server, check your system to verify that you have enough hard drive space to retain all of your data. Suggested: To improve overall data loading and reporting performance, consider using SSD drives instead of spinning drives.

Software Requirements

Supported Operating Systems

  • Windows Server 2019
  • Windows Server 2016

Analytics Agent Requirements

Hardware Requirements

Minimum Progress MOVEit Analytics Agent Requirements

Known Issue

UREP-5217

Agent-Install

The Agent's server version is displayed as "0" on the UI when the Progress MOVEit Analytics Agent is upgraded directly from version 2.0 to 2018 (3.0).

To workaround this issue, complete the following steps.

  1. Edit the value of "observing.system.version" in the agent.properties file to reflect the current version.

The default location of the agent.properties file is in the C:\Program Files\Ipswitch\Analytics Agent\conf directory.

  2. Save and restart the agent.
