Progress MOVEit Analytics consists of one or more Progress MOVEit Analytics Agents that pull data periodically from MOVEit databases and send that data securely to the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server. The Progress MOVEit Analytics Server stores the data in a PostgreSQL database and presents it for analysis within a web browser when requested.
An Agent is required for each MOVEit database you want to include in Progress MOVEit Analytics. For example, if you have one MOVEit Automation database and two MOVEit Transfer databases, you require three Agents.
The standard perpetual base Progress MOVEit Analytics license supports two Agents connected with a single Server, however, a Progress MOVEit Analytics Server can support up to 20 Agents and up to 100 users may sign in to the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server concurrently. Note: In a MOVEit Automation Failover environment, you install two Agents that use the same license but only one Agent is active at a time. See Install Progress MOVEit Analytics Agents in Legacy Failover Environments.
The installation package contains a Progress MOVEit Analytics Server install file and a Progress MOVEit Analytics Agent install file.
The Progress MOVEit Analytics Server is a secure web server that uses Apache Tomcat to run as a Windows service. The Server receives data from each Agent periodically, consolidates that data into a dedicated PostgreSQL database that retains historical MOVEit data, and then presents that data in the form of reports and a real-time monitor within a web browser. Up to 100 users can sign in to the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server concurrently.
An Agent is a Windows service that periodically captures the most recent data from a MOVEit database, formats and encrypts that data, and then sends the data to the Progress MOVEit Analytics Server securely via HTTPS. Data collection occurs every one minute for Monitor data and every two minutes for Reports. Agents have a small software footprint and use simple read-only queries that have minimal impact on MOVEit processing. The Agent's access to the MOVEit database is controlled by credentials entered during Agent installation. The Progress MOVEit Analytics Agent service typically runs on the Agent machine as an administrator user specified during installation, or in the context of the standard LocalService or NetworkService account.
