Top Ports

The Top Ports report displays the top ports to which traffic is routed on the selected interface in the selected direction (Inbound, Outbound, Inbound and Outbound, or Bounce). By default, Flow Monitor listens to ports below 1023, and a few higher numbered, well-known ports. You can configure monitored ports on the Flow Ports dialog.

Port usage data can be used to determine if new or unapproved applications are in use, and can be used to assist in port to application mapping that generates the Top Applications report.

You can choose to display and sort sender traffic by bytes, packets, or flows using the Display and sort by option on the report configuration dialog. Providing alternate sorting methods allows you to monitor and identify hosts that are the largest consumers of interface resources other than bandwidth.
