Windows (WMI) credential types are used for Hyper-V host machines to connect to and gather performance metrics and data from Hyper-V virtual machines. There is no specific Hyper-V credential type.

WMI/Windows credential types used for Hyper-V have the following configuration fields:

Hyper-V Credentials Change: Best Practices

If credentials change on the Windows host running Hyper-V, for example, due to a periodic password renewal policy, and you need to change them in WhatsUp Gold, consider the following:

  1. Open Credential Library, edit the Windows (WMI) credential you created for your Hyper-V host(s).
  2. Restart the WhatsUp Gold Ipswitch Service Control Manager (ISCM).
The ISCM restart triggers a fresh read of the modified Hyper-V host credentials.
  3. After a few minutes, check the WhatsUp Gold Summary Counts, Device Group Mini Status report or similar to ensure monitoring up status of the Hyper-V hosts.
