Using the Telnet Monitor
Telnet is a simple service monitor that checks for a Telnet server on port 23. If no telnet service responds on this port, then the service is considered down.
To configure a Telnet Monitor:

- In the Active Monitor Library, do one of the following:
- Enter or select the appropriate information in the following fields.

- . Enter a timeout value. This is the length of time in which the service is given a chance to respond. If there is no response in this amount of time, the service is considered down.
- . Select this option to have the monitor appear in the Active Monitors list during discovery. From there, you can select the monitor to have WhatsUp Gold discover that monitor type on your devices.
