Add/Edit New SNMP v2 Credential Type
How to get here
- Go to the Credentials Library.
- From the web interface, click . The GO menu appears.
- If the WhatsUp section is not visible, click . The WhatsUp section of the GO menu appears.
- Select . The Credentials Library dialog appears.
- Click . The Select Credential Type dialog appears.

Click . The Edit SNMPv2 Credential Type dialog appears.
- Select , then click . The Add SNMPv2 Credential Type dialog appears.
Use this dialog to create a SNMP v2 credential type for use with the credentials system. The Credentials system stores community string information for SNMP devices in your WhatsUp Gold database to be used whenever a read or write community string is needed to monitor a device. SNMP v2 uses a plain text read and write community string (also known as SNMP V2c.)
- . Enter a name for the credential type. This name appears in the Credentials Library list.
- . Enter a short description for this credential. The description appears with the name in the Credentials Library list.
- . Enter the read community string that you want to use for this credential. See SNMP Security for more information on community strings.
- . Enter the write community string that you want to use for this credential. See SNMP Security for more information on community strings.
