What is instant messaging?
Instant messaging is a means of communication between two people on a network, much like e-mail.
Instant messaging is different from e-mail in that it allows you to get an instant response to your sent message through an online conversation. Sending a message opens up a window in which you can type messages that both you and your contact, or contacts, can see and read.
