Performing Device Management Actions
A number of manual actions can be performed on a selected device or group of selected devices directly from the Monitoring Map. Select a device or devices to display the corresponding device information card, then choose the task to be performed from the Actions drop-down menu. This menu also provides access to device properties, monitoring, and status interfaces.
- . This action creates a shortcut to a device within a selected group which provides access to that device still residing in its original group.
- . This action relocates a device from its original group to another group.
- . This action removes a device from WhatsUp Gold.
- . This action creates a deep copy of a device which means the device is duplicated with all the active monitors, passive monitors, actions, and attributes applied to the new device. Please note, the new device has the existing monitors and action policies applied. No monitors or action policies are duplicated. Additionally, after cloning a device, the host name and address of the new device must me changed in order for WhatsUp Gold to begin monitoring it.
- . This action immediately requests an updated status from a device prior to the next automatic polling time per the configured polling interval.
- . This action allows you to acknowledge a state change on a device. Please note, acknowledging a state change does not prevent a device from firing actions. Place the device in maintenance mode to stop actions from firing.
- . This action reruns discovery on a device to retrieve any updated and/or additional information new to the device since it was originally added to WhatsUp Gold.
- . This action prevents the selected device from being polled, actions from being triggered, and disables logging activity.
- . This action launches a new browser tab displaying a remote desktop connection to the selected device.
- . This action displays a menu of tools used to assist in troubleshoot potential problems with the selected device.
