Enabling the Ping Throttle

Note: Increasing the time between consecutive pings generated by the ping engine will lower the bandwidth required to support the ping engine, but will increase the amount of time required to ping the monitored devices. Decreasing the time between consecutive pings will increase bandwidth requirements, but will decrease the amount of time needed to ping the monitored devices.

Note: The Throttle pings by x msecs selection will persist only if you have selected an option other than the default. The default setting is 20 msec.

To enable the ping throttle:

  1. From the console main menu, click Configure > Program Options.
  2. Click the General icon. The General options appear.
  3. Select Throttle pings by x msecs option and select the number of milliseconds you want the ping engine to wait between consecutive pings.
  4. Click OK. The Program Options dialog closes.
