Working with Monitored Applications

A monitored application is a running copy of an application profile that monitors the defined collection of components, distinct applications, and thresholds necessary to define the health and performance of a given type of application. A monitored application can extend the application profile by adding components, component groups, or discrete applications. The application profile is not changed when the monitored application is extended.

Important: In order to perform these procedures, you must have the Configure Application Instances user right enabled.

To create an instance for monitoring an application on a specific device:

  1. Select SETTINGS > Application Monitoring > Application and Profile Setup from the main menu.
  2. Select the Monitored Applications tab.
  3. Click the Add WUG19.0-Add Monitored Application icon to launch the New Monitored Application dialog.
  4. Choose an application profile from the drop-down list, then browse for a target device on which to monitor the application.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Select the Application Detail tab, then configure the following:
    • Enter a Name and Description for the application instance.
    • Select an Action Policy to apply from the drop-down list.
    • Click the Add WUG19.0-Add Monitored Application icon to select one or more Attributes to apply to the monitored application, if desired.
  7. Select the Components tab, then use the controls provided to add, edit, copy, remove, enable, disable, and test one or more components in the monitored application.
  8. Click Save.
