Hyper-V Host Event Log Monitor

Hyper-V Host Event Log Monitor enables you to filter and process Hyper-V Event Log messages. WhatsUp Gold adds this performance monitor automatically when a device satisifies the definition for Hyper-V Host role used by Discovery. This monitor is often used with one or more configured Hyper-V Thresholds.

Hyper-V Host Event Log Monitor is turned off by default. After you enable the monitor, you can then select the category and detail of messages you want to log/process.

Enable Hyper-V Host Event Log Monitor

To switch this monitor on:

  1. Find/select a monitored device in My Network with the subrole "Hyper-V Host" and click Device Properties WUG17.0N-IMG-DEVICE_PROPERTIES_ICON.
  2. In Device Properties, select the Monitors tab and then select Hyper-V Host Event Log monitor .
  3. With Hyper-V Host Event Log monitor selected, Click Enable.

    Log messages can be viewed by way of the Hyper-V Event Log, which updates based on the monitor's collection interval.

Configure Hyper-V Host Event Log Monitor

Edit the polling interval and filter message categories for Hyper-V Host Event Log Monitor:

  1. In Device Properties, select the Monitors tab and then select Hyper-V Host Event Log monitor .
  2. Click 'edit' and configure the following:
    • Collection Interval. Interval to check for messages.
    • Event Severity. Level of detail and severity of the messages listened for.
    • Hyper-V Event Logs to Collect. Message category.

    Select the checkboxes to include the Hyper-V Event Log messages you want to include in monitoring.
