This topic shows you how to install Ipswitch Analytics Agents in a Legacy Failover environment that includes a primary database and a secondary (failover) database.
Before you install Agents, you must install the Ipswitch Analytics Server.
In a MOVEit Automation Legacy Failover environment, you install two Agents that use the same license, but only one Agent is active at a time.
You can install the Agents on the machine that hosts the MOVEit database, or on any machine that has network connectivity with the MOVEit database.
If your MOVEit Automation system is set up for Failover, you will have a primary server and a secondary (failover) server that activates only if the primary server fails. Below are the two possible configuration options for installing Ipswitch Analytics into a MOVEit Automation Legacy Failover environment. Dotted lines indicate dormant connections.
MOVEit Automation primary and secondary servers point to the same Microsoft SQL Server database on a standalone machine. Install one Agent on the MOVEit Automation Microsoft SQL Server database machine.
In this scenario, the primary and secondary servers point to their own local MySQL databases. Install Agents on each MOVEit Automation server. You can use a single Agent license for both the primary and secondary Agents since only one database will send data to the Agent at a time.
The machine that hosts the MOVEit database must be online and network accessible before you begin an Agent installation. You do not have to stop the MOVEit server to install an Agent. Agent installation will not significantly affect MOVEit Transfer and MOVEit Automation system performance.
First you must install an Agent for the PRIMARY database machine and then install an Agent for the SECONDARY database machine:
